Description:Proton pump inhibitor called Nexium is used to treat acid reflux, heartburn, and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), also known as stomach acid-suppressing drugs, are used to lower the frequency of stomach acid secretion, reduce symptoms of GERD, and lower the severity and frequency of reflux disease (a potentially life-threatening medical condition).Note:The is an alternative medication by name for " gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)".Do not take Nexium if you are allergic to Nexium, Prilosec, or any of its ingredients

Warnings:Do not use Nexium if you are taking or have recently taken ritonavir:

  • used to treat chronic viral gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) in adults
  • used to treat recurrent episodes of reflux

Contraindications:Do not use Nexium if you are not at increased risk of cardiovascular events or have a known hypersensitivity to ritonavir or to any of the excipients used with this medication.
